In 1986, a game was released by a company once called Enix. It spawned a multi-million dollar franchise with sales over 7 million over the world. It is also called a “Japanese national RPG”, Dragon Quest.

With over 80 games spanning in the series, one of these in particular stood out with its a story involving three generations fighting against the demon lord and the ability to choose your wife. This is Dragon Quest V: The Hand of the Heavenly Bride released in 1992.

Using this story as a base, director Takashi Yamazaki is releasing a movie titled Dragon Quest: Your Story. It will be the first Dragon Quest title to be released as a full 3DCG movie. The first trailer for the movie has been released as well!

The cast for the movie was announced as well! The protagonist, titled Luka will be played by Takeru Satoh, known for his role in NHK Drama Hanbun, Aoi and Masked Rider Den-O. And the character who is said to be “Luka’s fated partner”, Bianca, will be voiced by Kasumi Arimura, known for her roles in movies such as Amachan, and Flying Colors.

And fret not, the voice of Papas, the great father of Luka is Takayuki Yamada, very well known for his role as Yoshihiko in Brave Yoshihiko. Yamada himself is a huge Dragon Quest fan.

Kobayashi Kendo, Ken Yasuda, Arata Furuta, Suzuki Matsuo, Koichi Yamadera, Arata Iura, Chisako Kaku Chisako and Kotaro Yoshida have also been announced to take part in the film.

I love Dragon Quest, and I love a great film adaptation. This sounds and looks like one so I hope I can see it asap!
