Their warring “Song of Rebellion”

GARNiDELiA’s newest single REBEL FLAG was released on 13th March 2019. It currently serves as the ending theme song for the TV anime Magical Girl Spec-Ops Asuka. This is the last part we will be covering in this interview from Natalie.

The Asia tour is a festival!

Immediately after your single was released, it’s already time for the Asia Tour.

MARiA: Yes. The tour’s title is “Stellacage Asia Tour 2019 Kyoki Ranbu“, therefore the album Kyoki Ranbu will be the main focus of the tour. It’s thanks to Gokuraku Jodo that people in Asia, especially China, know about us, and likewise, thanks to the songs in Kyoki Ranbu that enabled us to do this tour.

toku: She said it at the start but, it’s hard to believe we could do this 5 years ago.

M: Right? So I’m putting in all my gratitude to the “Odochattemita” songs and making a live around them. At the same time, I have to face that fact that I am on the stage as a representative artiste of Japan. Gokuraku Jodo was created for people to learn more about Japanese culture and I want to convey that through the live.

During your Japan lives you use fans and umbrellas while singing, I assume for overseas ones it’ll become even more exciting that way.

M: Even when we’re making our setlist, we want to emulate the feel of a Japanese festival, or to be precise, we want to make this tour be a festival in itself.

T: That’s right.

M: Toku has it hard. Since he’s the manipulator and keyboard at the same time, I feel he’s pretty amazing doing all that.

For example during rehearsal if I just blurt out that “If we cut the intro, wouldn’t it sound more cool?” and he would reply “Eh? I have to do that? Can you give me time to adjust?” He would complain but he’d still do it. That’s because he’s kind. (laughs)

T Well even in the previous tour, we would change the arrangement for Girls every time we were at a different stop. And we used the last stop’s version for the album release, and it all kind of felt like a connected story like that. As a manipulator that’s one of the things I do.

M: Also for our lives, there are remixes you can only hear at that particular tour.

Picking up on what toku just said, on your previous tour at the last stop,  Zepp Diver City, you guys used an air horn for Aikotoba.

M: Yes yes. It was good, wasn’t it? With the horn team, it felt entirely different.

T: The score for that was quite the challenge. (laughs)

M: It was really. You’re really amazing, toku.

T: Even if it was challenging, it would be great if we could do something like that again, and this tour we’ll be going a few stops around Japan again right?

M: Let’s all enjoy the festival!
