Kodansha and Shueisha, two of Japan’s largest manga publishers, are combining for a gigantic manga magazine issue. This issue is the “Shounen Jumaga Gakuen” project.  The first issue is now out, and saying it’s enormous would be quite an understatement. In fact, it has 2,264 pages and is 13cm wide.

Now, here it is compared to a normal-sized weekly manga magazine:

The magazine, if you could even call it that, has the first chapters of several popular manga series. It includes the opening chapters for Jump titles such as My Hero Academia and Haikyuu, as well as the opening chapters for Shonen Magazine titles like Seven Deadly Sins and Eden’s Zero.

The magazine describes itself as an actual “school”. And as a school, all its students are the readers and its learning materials are the manga. In addition, they are releasing a 30-metre ad in Shibuya Station from 6th-12th May to promote it. It will feature 120 characters from both Shonen Jump and Shonen Magazine.
