The official Twitter Page for Shonen Jump has now announced that they will be releasing the final chapter of Hideaki Sorachi’s Gintama manga on June 17, 2019. This will be via the official Gintama app. The magazine originally listed the final chapter for release on June 10, but moved it to the 17th for various circumstances.

Sorachi has been trolling fans by saying the manga is ending, only to continue it in another magazine/platform. The manga ended its run in its old home of Weekly Shonen Jump last September, only to move in Jump Giga in December. And then, after a run of three chapters, it continued via the Gintama app.

When Jump announced the end date, fans immediately rolled their eyes. Given how much trolling they have had, it’s easy to get that reaction. However, Jump did promise that the run on the Gintama app will be the really the final one. They said that the manga “finally, truly, truly starting its countdown to its climax” with the app. But as expected, the fans won’t believe this is the end just yet.
