After over two years in retirement, veteran seiyuu Tomo Sakurai now announces that she’s coming out of it and returning to voice acting. The seiyuu also promised that she will be more active on both of her Twitter and Instagram accounts.

The seiyuu previously retired due to her failing vocal chords. But now, all seems well, and so well that she’s going back to the entertainment industry. In fact, she recently returned as Mumei’s mother in the Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress: The Battle of Unato film.

Sakurai first gained a name for herself in Macross 7, where she voiced Mylene Flare Jenius, the series’ main heroine, as well as the aunt of Macross Delta heroine, Mirage Farina Jenius. She then went on to voice Misao Makimachi in Rurouni Kenshin, and also had several roles in other classic anime, such as Marin in Akazukin Chacha, Sjayla-Shayla in El Hazard, and most recently, Mumei’s mother in Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress.
