Netflix and Production I.G’s Ultraman anime ended with a lot of questions in everyone’s minds. However, fret not because the streaming service has revealed that the anime is getting a second season! They made the announcement during the 2019 Annecy International Animated Film Festival in France, where they also unveiled a brand new key visual:

Kenji Kamiyama and Shinji Aramaki and the animation studios Production I.G and Sola Digital Arts are all returning for this new season. Much of the cast are also coming back as well:

  • Ryohei Kimura as Shinjiro Hayata/Ultraman
  • Takuya Eguchi as Dan Moroboshi/Seven
  • Megumi Han as Seiji Hokuto/Ace
  • Hideyuki Tanaka as Shin Hayata/original Ultraman
  • Sumire Morohoshi as Rena Sayama
  • Shigeru Ushiyama as Edo
  • Ryota Takeuchi as Jack

Unfortunately, they haven’t revealed when they will be releasing the sequel yet. Here’s how Netflix describes its story:

Several years have passed since the events of Ultraman
, with the legendary “Giant of Light” (光の巨人 Hikari no Kyojin) now a memory, as it is believed he returned home after fighting the many giant aliens that invaded the Earth. Shin Hayata’s son Shinjiro seems to possess a strange ability, and it is this ability, along with his father’s revelation that he was Ultraman, that leads Shinjiro to battle the new aliens invading the Earth as the new Ultraman.
