Another classic video game is getting a Hollywood film adaptation. And this time, it’s Taito’s iconic Space Invaders game! New Line Cinema will be responsible for the production, with the live-action Mortal Kombat reboot film’s Greg Russo writing the script.

Akiva Goldman of Weed Road Pictures and Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell of Safehouse Pictures are producing the film. They will be revealing more production details soon.

Japanese video game manufacturer, Taito, first released the game in arcades all the way back to 1978. It features the player defending the world against blocky aliens coming down from the sky.
