At an event, Hollywood news site Variety recently talked to producer Tim Miller, who is currently working on the live-action adaptation of Sonic the Hedgehog. In the interview, Miller talked about the redesign and said that he thinks fans might like it.

“This is a franchise, and it has to be great,” Miller said. The producer stated that he has a hand in the decision to redesign, as is director Jeff Fowler. “Look, I was with fans and so was Jeff.  When the s–t hit the fan, I went over there and said, “The most important thing to do, man, is say, ‘I f–ked up,’” Miller said. “He’d already sent a tweet out an hour before I got there. He’s a good man. It was exactly the right way to handle that. The fans have a voice in this too. There’s a right way to listen.”

Many commented on how creepy Sonic looked with HUMAN TEETH. Many were also unimpressed at how Jim Carey looked as Dr, Robotnik/Eggman in the trailer. However, while many said they disliked how he looked, they still have hopes for his portrayal of the classic video game antagonist. Many even said that him being in the movie was the only good thing shown in the trailer.

The redesign also prompted the movie to be delayed from its originally-planned November 2019 release to 14 February 2020. Jim Carrey plays Sonic’s nemesis Doctor Robotnik, while Ben Schwartz voices Sonic himself. The film will also star James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, Natasha Rothwell, Neal McDonough and Adam Pally.
