Legendary mangaka Go Nagai is responsible for many classic manga, from Mazinger Z to Cutie Honey. He’s also responsible for Devilman. And it seems that he’s also a fan of Dark Horse’s demonic comic book character, Hell Boy, as well. And with the film’s Japanese release coming up, Devilman and Hell Boy are teaming up! Go Nagai’s Dynamic Planning even released a special crossover artwork featuring the two heroes teaming up to fight arch nemeses Sirene and Nimue the Blood Queen.

Nagai himself has already watched the reboot and says he appreciated the depiction, as well as the dark, gloomy, and even the comedic elements. He even describes it as a thrilling dark fantasy film.

Meanwhile, it looks like Hellboy‘s creator is also giving Devilman some love of his own. Hellboy creator Mike Mignola also drew a cross-over image for the Japanese release of the Hell Boy reboot. The Go Nagai Memorial Hall in Wajima City in Ishikawa Prefecture is now displaying both pieces of art.

The reboot will premiere in Japan on 27 September 2019.
