The Rising of The Shield Hero is undoubtedly one of the most popular isekai franchises today. And now, it is getting a 2.5D stage adaptation in spring 2020. It will first run in Cool Japan Park Osaka TT Hall from 27th-29th March, before heading to Tokyo’s Theater Sun-mall from 2nd-12th April.

Bobjack Theater’s Satoshi Oogita is directing the play, while Kaori Moriyama is writing the script. Unfortunately, the cast is still unknown as of writing, but expect the staff to reveal more details in the future.

As for the anime, don’t worry because it’s getting a second season soon enough. There are still no details on when this second season will premiere though.

Here’s how One Peace Books describes the manga and light novels’ story:

Naofumi Iwatani, an uncharismatic otaku who spends his days on games and manga, suddenly finds himself summoned to a parallel universe! He discovers he is one of four heroes equipped with legendary weapons and tasked with saving the world from its prophesied destruction. As the Shield Hero, the weakest of the heroes, all is not as it seems. Naofumi is soon alone, penniless, and betrayed. With no one to turn to, and nowhere to run, he is left with only his shield. Now, Naofumi must rise to become the legendary Shield Hero and save the world!
