When it comes to charitable Japanese celebrities, legendary rocker Yoshiki from X Japan might be at the very top. He recently donated US$100,000 to Earth Alliance to help fight the Amazon Forest fires, and we all know that he donated 10 million yen to Kyoto Animation after that horrific arson fire. And when Typhoon Faxai hit Japan, cutting off power and displacing entire communities, he also donated 10 million yen to the Japanese Red Cross Society to help out.

However, even that huge amount of money ain’t enough it seems. In fact, in a statement, he apologised because that’s the only amount of money he can donate to his hometown of Tateyama, Chiba, which is one of the worst-hit places by the typhoon.

In his statement, he said “I have been based overseas for many years as part of my ongoing projects, but my feelings for my hometown have never faded. I am sorry that this is the only thing I can do to help. I hope my donation can be of some small help, and I am praying for Chiba’s recovery.”

It seems he wanted to give more, and that is why he apologised. He was in the US when the typhoon hit, and was worried about the people in Chiba.
