Doraemon is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, and its celebrating it with a bang! This is because for the first time since 1996, when Doraemon creator Fujiko F. Fujio passed away, the manga is releasing a new volume! They’re numbering it as “Volume 0,” and it will feature six versions of the series’ first chapter.

Doraemon actually debuted in six different magazines. And Fujiko Fujio tailored each debut chapter to the magazine’s demographic. These six magazines were Yoiko, Youchien, Shougaku Ichinensei, Shougaku Ninensei, Shougaku Sannensei, and Shougaku Yonensei The manga’s first tankoubon release only featured the volume from Shougaku Yonensei, which targeted students in their fourth grade.

The new volume also promises new color pages, as well as supplementary materials. It would also include Fujiko F. Fujio’s documentary manga, The Birth of Doraemon.

They will release this new volume on 27 November 2019.
