It’s no secret that Hideo Kojima has a lot of Hollywood connections, from actors to comedians to directors. He’s friends with a lot of them! And it’s also no secret that he’s a huge movie buff, often reviewing films in his Twitter page. If he likes a film, he sings it praises, and if he doesn’t… well, he just doesn’t say anything. I guess he’s just that much of a nice guy.

The BBC recently did an interview with Kojima, who also toured them in his new studio. There, he revealed some of his plans for the future. And being a big movie fan, he says he’s planning on making movies himself.

“In the future, Kojima Productions will also start making films,” Kojima said. “If a person can do one thing well, then they should be able to do anything well.”

“I think within the next three to four years, everything will move to streaming—games, movies, and TV shows.” We’re pretty much there with TV shows and movies.

“When that happens,” Kojima continues, “movies, TV shows, and games will be competing in the same space.” Kojima is interested in the type of entertainment that will inevitably arise from this competition.

His love for films show greatly in his work, even in his old Metal Gear days. It’s pretty clear that his cut scenes really take a lot of inspiration from films. And with friends like Guillermo del Toro, Mads Mikkelsen, Keanu Reeves, and Norman Reedus, it’s only a matter of time until Kojima finally decides to make one himself. Who knows? Maybe he can even get old pal Guillermo to direct it, while he produces.
