Make your way to Southeast Asia’s biggest Japanese pop culture event — C3AFA Singapore 2019, is slated from the 29th of November to the 1st of December at the Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre!

On its eleventh straight year, the I LOVE ANISONG concert will be rocking the roof down with some incomparable Japanese artistes. We managed to catch up with one of the Saturday acts — the irrepressible BLUE ENCOUNT, for a chat.

Is this your first time in Singapore? What do you most look forward to trying?

Our drummer Takamura has been to Singapore once on a high school excursion. The weather, the people, and the atmosphere of the city are all very warm, so we have this image of it being a wonderful country that’s easy to live in. We’re looking forward to performing live in such a place.

Congratulations on the release of your single “Polaris”. Can you share something interesting about making the single?

Thank you very much. This year is our 15th anniversary, and our 10th year together with the current member line-up. We cherish the “BLUE ENCOUNT style” we’ve cultivated so far, and for the sake of taking the next step, we’re trying to make a song that is one step ahead of our own imagination — this was the idea we had while working on the production.

In the process, we were able to incorporate “My Hero Academia’s” world view into our music. All the members read the manga and saw the anime, so we felt how enjoyable “My Hero Academia” is, and it’s reflected in the music and lyrics.

“Polaris” is the theme song of the “My Hero Academia” movie. If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?

I definitely want the main character’s quirk. The reason is that he has tremendous power, and makes tremendous efforts to harness that power; he makes a lot of mistakes, but nevertheless, he rushes toward his dream.

I love that sort of attitude, and I think that this is the kind of person who can use superpowers correctly. So with the strongest power and unlimited potential to help everyone, I want to become a person who is able to play an active part in saving the world, without being letting himself be defeated.

You are currently on a nationwide tour. What is the most important thing you need to pack when going on tour?

Mouthwash and a humidifier; to keep from catching a cold.

C3AFASG 2019 I LOVE ANISONG is here very soon. What can your fans look forward to?

BLUE ENCOUNT is a band born in Japan and has been active in the Japanese live scene, and has grown up in a unique Japanese culture.

Without sugarcoating what we are, we’re gonna hit everyone in Singapore! Please look forward to that! Put your faith in us! Let’s have the best day ever!

Please give a message to your fans in Singapore and South East Asia.

All the members are very excited for the second BLUE ENCOUNT overseas live (and the first time in three years). We look forward to meeting you all! See you then!

Check out BLUE ENCOUNT on Saturday — 30th November, at their first Singapore live at C3AFASG19’s I LOVE ANISONG! Grab your tickets now via APACTix.com!
