Ascendance of a Bookworm is certainly one of the most underrated anime this season. The series is currently streaming here in Southeast Asia via Muse Asia’s YouTube channel, and it’s a unique kind of isekai anime:

Unfortunately, it seems that the anime’s run will only be until this month. But don’t worry, as the staff have announced that there will indeed be a second season in July 2020. They even released a key visual:

Aside from the second season, the staff also announced that on 25th December, Christmas day, the anime will air not one, but two episodes. These episodes will serve as the first season’s 13th and 14th episodes. Merry Christmas indeed!

Here’s how Muse Asia describes the anime’s story:

A certain college girl who’s loved books ever since she was a little girl dies in an accident and is reborn in another world she knows nothing about. She is now Maine, the sickly five-year-old daughter of a poor soldier. To make things worse, the world she’s been reborn in has a very low literacy rate and books mostly don’t exist. She’d have to pay an enormous amounts of money to buy one. Maine resolves herself: If there aren’t any books, she’ll just have to make them! Her goal is to become a librarian. This story begins with her quest to make books so she can live surrounded by them! Dive into this biblio-fantasy written for book lovers and bookworms!
