Legendary anime creator Leiji Matsumoto was recently rushed to a hospital in Turin, Italy due to a suspected stroke. However, Asahi Shimbun now reports that the Italian hospital where the Captain Harlock creator underwent various treatments has now discharged him.

Among his emergency treatments in Italy included endotracheal intubation. They then moved the mangaka/director to a recovery ward last 20th November. The hospital also said that Matsumoto returned to Japan on the same day that they discharged him.

Matsumoto visited Turin to celebrate Captain Harlock’s 40th anniversary on Italian TV. And according to Italian media, Matsumoto was speaking inaccurately during the event. Staff would later take him back to his hotel before rushing him to the hospital.

Because of his hospitalisation, Matsumoto cancelled many of his appearances. This included the Kita-Q International Manga Fest event in Kitakyushu, Fukuoka.
