In Japan, renting families is kind of a thing. But what if rental girlfriends are also in service? Well, that concept comes into play in Reiji Miyajima’s aptly titled Kanojo, Okarishimasu (Rent-A-Girlfriend) romantic comedy manga. And now, DMM Pictures has announced that a TV anime adaptation for the manga is happening soon! They even revealed a new PV and visual:

According to the announcement, this new series will premiere sometime in July 2020. The announcement also confirmed that much of the cast from a previously-released animated PV will be reprising their roles.

The cast includes:

  • Sora Amamiya as Chizuru Mizuhara
  • Aoi Yuuki as Mami Nanami
  • Nao Touyama as Ruka Sarashina
  • Rie Takahashi as Sumi Sakrasawa
  • Shun Horie as Kazuya Kinoshita

TMS Entertainment is animating the TV show, with Kazuomi Koga directing it. Meanwhile, Kanna Hirayama is designing the characters, while Mitsutaka Hirota is penning the scripts.

Here is how Kodansha, which also releases the manga internationally, describes the story in English:

In Japan, the lonely have a new way out — online services that rent out dads, children, even girlfriends! When Kazuya’s true love dumps him, he’s just desperate enough to try it, and he’s shocked at how cute and sweet his rental girlfriend turns out to be. But she wants to keep their “relationship” a secret, and there’s a complication… she goes to his university… and their grandmothers are in the same home… and they live next door to each other?! And Kazuya finds out she’s not nearly as nice in “real life”..
