It all started with an idea from veteran seiyuu Jouji Nakata. And now, the Seiyuu Kohaku Uta Gassen is also becoming an annual event with the seiyuu version’s second year.

The staff have finally released the first wave of seiyuu participating this year.

So far for the Red Team (the ladies), it consist of veteran seiyuu:

  • Kikuko Inoue
  • Ai Orikasa
  • Hiroko Kasahara
  • Sumi Shimamoto
  • Rie Tanaka
  • Noriko Hidaka

As for the White Team, it is a mix of contemporary and veteran seiyuu. It includes:

  • Kazuhiko Inoue
  • Tomokazu Seki
  • Shunsuke Takeuchi
  • Ryusei Nakao

Several familiar faces are returning for the event’s first iteration, and they are Noriko Hidaka, Kikuko Inoue, Hiroko Kasahara, Kazuhiko Inoue, Tomokazu Seki, and Shunsuke Takeuchi.

This year’s event will be happening on 2 May 2020, at the Pacifico Yokohama National Convention Hall. And for this year, Seiyuu Rikiya Koyama and Sayaka Ohara are the ones responsible for moderating the program. They will reveal more participants very soon.

Last year, the White Team won the inaugural competition.

The event started with a casual tweet from Nakata, floating an all-seiyuu version of the New Year tradition. And before you know it, it became official! As its founder, he still couldn’t believe it went through, still surprised on how much support he received from fans with the idea.
