The “It’s New Year’s Eve! Gundam Channel New Year’s Eve Special” livestream has revealed new details on the upcoming Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway film project. During the New year livestream, they revealed that the film will open on 23rd July. They also revealed a brand new teaser trailer as well:

The livestream also announced that the staff will reveal more details on the film during the “Gundam Fan Gathering: Hathaway Heris to Gundam” event. It will happen on 24th March at the Zepp Diver City Tokyo, near the life-size Unicorn Gundam. They will announce the theme song artiste and cast of the anime, as well as additional information. In addition, Amuro Ray himself, Toru Furuya, will be in attendance.

Shukou Murase (Genocidal Organ) is directing the project over at Sunrise. (Yasuyuki Mutou Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn RE:0096) is penning the script, while Pablo Uchida, Naoyuki Onda, and Shigeki Kuhara are adapting Haruhiko Mikimoto’s original character designs for the anime.

Legendary anime director, Yoshiyuki “Kill’em All” Tomino wrote the Hathaway’s Flash novel series, and the new anime is adapting it. The novel series deals with the aftermath of Char’s counterattack, and happens in the events between the film and the Gundam UC anime. It follows Hathaway Noa, Bright Noa and Mirei’s son. As for Tomino’s other work, we can only hope that his Gundam Crossbone manga will get an adaptation as well.
