Higurashi: When They Cry is back with a brand new anime project. And now, the anime’s official website has revealed that a few familiar voices are returning! This is because Souichiro Hoshi and Mai Nakahara are reprising their roles from previous anime!

Hoshi is returning to voice Keiichi Maebara, while Nakahara is voicing Rena Ryuuguu.

Passione (Citrus) is animating the project. And if the designs look familiar, that’s because Monogatari’s Akio Watanabe is doing the character designs. They also announced that Infinite is producing the series as well. It also credits Ryukishi07 and 07th Expansion for the original work

Set in a rural town, the franchise follows the mystery of the grisly murders which usually coincide with its annual festival. The first anime adaptation became quite infamous around the world, mostly because of all the violence and gore.
