We now have a new Pokemon species! It’s a Dark/Grass-type “Rogue Monkey” Pokemon called Zarude, and they just introduced it during Pokemon Day!

The official Pokemon website describes them as:

Zarude, the Rogue Monkey Pokémon, is a Dark- and Grass-type Pokémon that cannot be found through normal gameplay in the world of Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield. This Mythical Pokémon stands an average of 5′11″ tall, weighs about 154.3 lbs., and is known to have the Leaf Guard Ability.

Zarude can grow vines from the back of its neck, its wrists, and the soles of its feet at will. These vines are strong and flexible, and they can be used for a variety of purposes. Zarude uses the vines to wrap around tree branches to move around or to grab Berries from distant branches. The vines also have a healing property. If Zarude wraps its vines around a wound, the wound will heal.

It has been reported that Zarude lives in a pack deep in the heart of dense forests. It treats anyone that isn’t part of its pack with immediate hostility, attacking right away. Because of this, other Pokémon that live in the same forest are afraid of Zarude.

They also revealed that trainers can’t catch these Mythical Pokemon through “normal gameplay”. Unfortunately, they did not reveal any further details yet about this new species or its release.

Meanwhile, the new Pokemon Direct livestream has announced new details on the two upcoming Pokemon expansions. The Isle of Armor expansion will be released in June, while The Crown Tundra expansion will gets its release sometime in autumn.
