The new Sakura Wars game is now out, and a TV anime adaptation is following suit! And now, the game’s official Twitter Page has revealed the OP and ED sequences for Shin Sakura Taisen the Animation in new videos:

OP: “Geki! Teikoku Kagekidan – Shinshou” by Ayane Sakura (Sakura), Maaya Uchida (Hatsuho), Hibiku Yamamura (Azami), Ayaka Fukuhara (Anastasia), and Saori Hayami (Claris)

ED: “Sakura Yumemishi” by Nana Mizuki (Elise), Manami Numakura (Lancelot), and Sumire Uesaka (Huang Yui)

This new anime’s official title is New Sakura Wars the Animation, and its Japanese title is Shin Sakura Taisen the Animation. It will begin airing sometime in April 2020.

The staff previously confirmed that the anime will be following the game’s story, and will also introduce the Moscow Assault Force. Sanjigen will be handling the animation production, with Sword Art Online Alicization’s Manabu Ono directing the series. Kohei Tanaka, who has worked on the franchise since 1996, will be working on the anime’s musical production as well. The cast from the game will be reprising their roles in the anime as well. The cast includes:

  • Ayane Sakura as Sakura Amamiya
  • Youhei Azakami as Seijūrou Kamiyama
  • Maaya Uchida as Hatsuho Shinonome
  • Saori Hayami as Clarissa Snowflake
  • Hibiku Yamamura as Azami Mochizuki
  • Ayaka Fukuhara as Anastasia Palma

As for the game, it’s titled Shin Sakura Taisen (Project Sakura Wars). Its new story is set in Tokyo, 12 years after the events of Sakura Wars V. It will follow protagonist Seijurou Kamiyama as he leads a “New Imperial Assault Force” to fight against the re-emerging Kouma. It is now available in Japan for the PlayStation 4. An international release will be coming soon, in spring 2020.
