Its global premiere might have hit a snag, but it looks like the release of the Akira 4K Remaster anime film is pushing through. TOHO CINEMAS has announced that the film will premiere across 36 Japanese IMAX theares on 3rd April.

And that is not all, because the remastered version will also be getting a home video release as well. The Japanese release will ship on 24th April. They have also confirmed an international release for the home video version as well.

The anime itself was supposed to premiere during the Tokyo Anime Award Festival (TAAF) 2020 event last 14th March. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak cancelled many events in Japan, the TAAF included.
