Some sad news from Japan, as veteran seiyuu and the voice of many popular characters, Hiroshi Masuoka, has now passed away. He lost a long battle with Rectal cancer last 21st March. He was 83.

Masuoka’s relatives held a private wake and funeral for him. Unfortunately, the late seiyuu asked that there would be no public memorial service, and his family has complied with that request.

Masuoka has served as the second seiyuu for both Jam Oji-san from Anpanman, and of course, Kame Sennin (Master Roshi) from Dragon Ball Z. He has since retired from voice acting and passed on those roles.

May he rest in peace.
