Comiket98 ain’t the only big anime event that cancelled this week, as one of the biggest Japanese anime events outside of Tokyo, Machi Asobi, also cancelled. And much like AnimeJapan and Comiket, the organisers also cited the coronavirus outbreak as the reason for the event’s cancellation.

The official website said that they considered the safety of the visitors and staff as their highest priority. However, they also said that they are still preparing for the next Machi Asobi event, which will still be called Machi Asobi Vol.24, this autumn. The official website and Twitter Account will be announcing more details on that event in the near future.

The event was supposed to happen around Tokushima city in May. However, it looks like it ain’t happening this time around, along with other big anime events, including the Olympics.

The event was supposed to highlight plenty of upcoming anime, as well as announcements from ufotable. It would also have included river events, talk shows, panel discussions, and cosplay.
