Ghost in the Shell’s Mamoru Oshii is back with a new anime project titled VLADLOVE. And now, the anime’s official website has finally revealed new details on the project, including a brand new key visual:

And that’s not all, because the official website also revealed the anime’s story as well:

Mitsugu Bamba is a high school girl who finds meaning in donating her blood. She feels compelled to visit a local blood bank, despite unfriendly treatment by the nurse. One day, she encounters a beautiful girl at the blood bank who looks like she’s come from overseas. The girl is so pale that she appears ready to faint. Instead, she starts trashing the blood bank. The girl then loses consciousness and so Mitsugu takes her home…

They describe the new series as a new vampire anime with the concept of “Girl-meets-Girl”. The staff includes:

Oshii will be reuniting with some old friends from his Ghost in the Shell and Patlabor days, This includes composer Kenji Kawai, as well as sound director Kazuhiro Wakabayashi. Another classic anime director, Junji Nishimura (Ranma 1/2) is directing the series.

Meanwhile, the series will have its own vocal unit called Blood Dye. It will comprise of Kanako Takatsuki, Karin Isobe, and Sayaka Akagi, Ayano Furutaka, and Chisami Itou. In fact Kanako Takatsuki, who previously voiced Love Live! Sunshine!!’s Hanamaru is performing the theme song.

The anime will focus on the relationship between a female vampire and a high school girl. Oshii previously noted that the anime would absolutely have no ikemen and will soley focus on five young girls. He also described that Mai, the vampire in the anime, will feel similar to Lum from Urusei Yatsura.
