The official website for the upcoming second season of Re:Zero has some sad news for fans. Because of the recent Coronavirus outbreak in Japan, it has affected the anime’s production. And because of this, they are forced to delay the series until July 2020.

The anime was supposed to premiere in April 2020 as part of the spring 2020 season. However, the outbreak has forced it back one season to July, which means it will now begin airing in the summer 2020 season instead. Staff reveal more details, such as the new release date and channel information soon.

As for the anime itself, it will serve as a direct sequel to Season 1, and will be picking up where it left off. And yes, better expect even more suffering for poor old Subaru…

Netflix is currently streaming the first season here in Southeast Asia. Here’s how they describe the series:

On his way home from the convenience store, teenager Subaru Natsuki is transported to another world, where he gains the power to reverse time by dying.
