The NHK Anime World official website has announced that Aiko Koyama’s Maiko-san chi no Makanai-san manga is getting a TV anime adaptation. Of course, NHK will be broadcasting the series, and they even released a PV via their official website. They also released a teaser visual for the anime as well.

The award-winning manga follows a girl named Kiyo, who after graduating middle school came to Kyoto to become a Maiko, or apprentice geisha. Unfortunately, she lacks the talent and is now working as a caretaker at a Maiko lodge.

Weekly Shonen Sunday (Detective Conan) serialises the manga, which debuted back in December 2016. It now has 13 volumes, and even won several awards, including Shogakukan’s Shonen Manga Award during the 65th Manga Awards in 2019.
