Via Oricon: popular drama actress, talk show host, and voice actor Kumiko Okae died from respiratory complications caused by COVID-19. She was 63. She is survived by her husband, actor Baku Owada, and her eldest daughter, actress Miho Owada.
Okae made her acting debut in 1975, and was the mainstay host of the morning talk show “Hanamaru Market” from 1996 to 2014. She also lent her voice to characters in anime such as “Jenny” in “Pokemon: Lucario and the Mystery of Mew” and Haru’s mother in Studio Ghibli’s “The Cat Returns”.
