New TV anime “GREAT PRETENDER” will be launched on worldwide VOD service Netflix 2nd June, ahead of its domestic broadcast on Fuji TV 8th July. “GREAT PRETENDER” tells the story of Masato Edamura — who claims to be the “Best Scammer in Japan”, but was deceived by another con artist Laurent Thierry, who is so good he can even fool the mafia. In a Japanese animation first, the theme song will be none other than Freddie Mercury’s hit single “The Great Pretender”.

“GREAT PRETENDER” will be directed by Hiro Kaburagi — best known for his work on “Hozuki’s Coolheadedness” and “91 DAYS”, written for the screen by Ryouta Kosawa — best known for his work on “ALWAYS Sanchome no Yuuhi” and “CONFIDENCE MA JP”, character designs by Yoshoyuki Sadamoto of “Evangelion” and “Summer Wars” fame, and animated by WIT STUDIO who produce “Attack on Titan” and “Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress”.
