Via Japan Today: Kyoto Police have arrested Shinji Aoba (42), the prime suspect in the Kyoto Animation arson attack, on murder and arson charges. The arrest follows after authorities waited ten months for the suspect to recover from injuries, which he sustained during the fire that engulfed Studio 1 of the renowned animation company — killing 36 and injuring 33 employees.

Japanese media showed Aoba carried into a police station, securely strapped to a stretcher as he reportedly still cannot function without assistance. The suspect sustained severe burns on his face, torso, and limbs, and was in a coma for weeks after the crime — motivated by the alleged theft of the plot of his novels, which he submitted to the Kyoto Animation Awards writing competition.
