Anime fans who grew up in the 90s and are currently NETFLIX subscribers are having a field day — first with the release of “ONE PIECE” on 12th June, and now “Yu Yu Hakusho” (“Ghost Files”) on 26th June 2020!

Written and illustrated by Yoshihiro Togashi, the manga sold over 50 million copies in Japan alone and won the Shogakukan Manga Award in 1993. Meanwhile, the TV anime adaptation won the Animage Anime Grand Prix for best anime two years in a row in 1994 and 1995.

“Yu Yu Hakusho” follows the story of delinquent middle-schooler Yusuke Urameshi, was hit by a car and killed in an attempt to save a young boy’s life. His soul was given the chance to return to his body, but in exchange, he had to become a “Spirit Detective” — and solve crimes in the real world committed by malevolent spirits from the Underworld.

The TV anime adaptation has become a cult hit across South East Asia, especially in the Philippines where it was called “Ghost Fighter”. The Tagalog-dubbed version was aired during prime time, and become the gateway series for many ardent Filipino anime fans.
