More details about the upcoming TV anime adaptation of “The World Ends with You” (“Subarashiki Kono Sekai”) have been revealed at this weekend’s Anime Expo Lite, after the show teased late last month. “Neku” will be played by Kouki Uchiyama, “Shiki” will be played by Anna Hachimine, “Beat” will be played by Subaru Kimura, “Rhyme” will be played by Ayana Taketatsu, and finally “Joshua” will be played by Ryohei Kimura.

“The World Ends with You” will be directed by Kazuya Ichikawa, with series composition by Midori Goto, character design by Tetsuya Nomura and Moto Kobayashi, music by Takeharu Ishimoto, and animation production by DOMERICA and Shinei Video.

“The World Ends With You” takes place in a fictional version of the Shibuya shopping district in Tokyo, Japan — which is split into the Realground or the real world, and the Underground where entities known as Reapers play a deadly Reapers Game.

Protagonist Neku plays the Reaper Game over the course of three weeks with partners Shiki, Joshua, and Beat. He relearns how to value human interaction and make friends while discovering his missing memories that led up to his entry into the Reaper Game.
