Animation Studio BONES Teams Up with Hiroko Utsumi for “SK8 the Infinity”

The original TV animation “SK8 the Infinity“, a collaboration between director Hiroko Utsumi of “Banana Fish”, “Free!”, and “Free! Eternal Summer” fame, and animation studio BONES, which is renowned for “Eureka Seven” and “My Hero Academia”, will begin its broadcast run in January 2021.

“SK8 the Infinity” is set in a world where a dangerous secret race called “S” is held, which involves going down a closed mine shaft on a skateboard. Reki, a second-year high school student who loves skateboarding, heads to the mine where S is held with Ranga, a transfer student who just returned to Japan from Canada and has never skateboarded before. The two quickly get caught up in the thrilling but dangerous competition.
