Is this a cash grab? Because we wouldn’t put it past both protagonist Sakata Gintoki and author Hideaki Sorachi to come up with this scheme! In order to bait fans of both series into watching “GINTAMA The Final”, Hideaki Sorachi has drawn “Kimetsu no Yaiba” characters Kamado Tanjiro and the Nine Pillars in his style, to be given away as premiums for moviegoers to the last GINTAMA movie.

This was unveiled at the program “GINTAMA TIMES” at “Jump Festa 2021 ONLINE”, streamed 19th December. The programme featured Tomokazu Sugita as Gintoki Sakata, Daisuke Sakaguchi as Shinpachi Shimura, and Rie Kugimiya as Kagura, who shared various updates about the upcoming film. Author Hideaki Sorachi interrupted the broadcast when he “appeared” in his gorilla form, and handed a note to Kugimiya — who proceeded to read the contents.

The renowned? reviled? author was trying to think up a new way to support “GINTAMA The Final”, and with the “Kimetsu no Yaiba” wave sweeping the country, what better way than to ride that wave all the way to the box office? A total of ten different “Kimetsu no Yaiba” illustrations were therefore created for release during “GINTAMA The Final”, and yes — we’re biting. See you at Japanese cinemas 8th January 2021!
