Popular Japanese creative collective HoneyWorks has reached an amazing milestone with their 10th Anniversary! To celebrate the momentous occasion, “HoneyWorks 10th Anniversary LIP x LIP FILM x LIVE” — featuring both a full-length theatrical animated film accompanied by an animated concert will be released. The project stars Kouki Uchiyama and Nobunaga Shimazaki as members of the virtual idol pair “LIP x LIP”.

The team was very gracious to take some time off from the busy film production schedule to answer a few questions from SO Japan. Check it out below!

First of all, please briefly introduce yourselves to our readers.

Hello everyone, we are HoneyWorks. We are a creator unit that mainly posts songs and videos on video content sites such as Nico Nico Douga and YouTube.

Congratulations on your 10th Anniversary! How do you feel about reaching this milestone?

Thank you very much! Looking back, it was quite challenging — but those ten years went by in a blink of an eye, because we’ve always given our all in whatever we have been doing, and have enjoyed every minute of it.

When HoneyWorks started out, what were the challenges along the way?

Ten years ago, we would never have imagined that our work would be enjoyed by so many people. At that time, we were only doing what we wanted to do — so we really did not have any expectations, but we always tried to make something that would please our fans.

Did you have a particularly memorable project among the many works you did? Do you have any personal favourites?

Forming CHiCO with HoneyWorks was a massive project that led to significant growth for all of us. We learned a lot in terms of musical production, as well as the song selection and creation process — in order to let our vocalist CHiCO truly shine.

Can you share some details about your 10th Anniversary Project “LIP×LIP FILM×LIVE”?

HoneyWorks has worked on a variety of media mix activities, a lot of which have been well-received and much-beloved by so many people. Among them are various VIDEO X MUSIC releases, which culminates in our milestone project on our 10th Anniversary.

In relation to this, we think that the secret story behind the formation of the idol unit “LIP x LIP” — produced by HoneyWorks, is something that the fans are keenly interested in right now, so we decided to turn this story into a movie.

Please share a message for your fans in South East Asia.

Thank you very much for your support. We’re glad to receive a lot of positive comments on YouTube.

Even with the ongoing situation, we hope that you get the chance to meet “LIP × LIP” as soon as you can! Let’s have fun together then!

Once again, congratulations to everyone at Honeyworksfor an amazing decade-long journey. Don’t forget that “HoneyWorks 10th Anniversary LIP x LIP FILM x LIVE” is slated for release 25th December 2020 in cinemas all over Japan.
