Via Comic Natalie: Studio Ghibli’s first 3DCG feature-length animation “Aya and the Witch” — which originally aired on NHK last 20th December 2020, will get a cinema release starting 29th April 2021.

“Aya and the Witch” was directed by Hayao Mizayaki’s son Goro Miyazaki, who also directed other Studio Ghibli films such as their adaptations of Ursula K. LeGuin’s “Tales from Earthsea”, as well as Tetsurou Sayama and Chizuru Takahashi’s “From Up On Poppy Hill”.

“Aya and the Witch” is based on British author Diana Wynne Jones’ novel “Earwig and the Witch”; Jones was also the original author of another adaptation by Studio Ghibli, “Howl’s Moving Castle”.
