Via Comic Natalie: Japanese anime magazine Animage is holding a special “Animage & Ghibli Exhibition” from 15th April to 5th May at Matsuya Ginza in Tokyo. The exhibition focuses on the “editor” aspect of Studio Ghibli producer Toshio Suzuki — who was also the editor-in-chief of Animage.

The opening of the exhibition played host to Nozomu Takahashi — a Senior Adviser of Ghibli Museum Mitaka, who oversaw the exhibition, Hideyuki Komiya — a Representative Director of Tokuma Shoten, Kiyofumi Nakajima — manager of Ghibli Museum Mitaka, and Sumi Shimamoto — who played the role of Nausicaa in “Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind”.

The exhibition is split mainly into two halves — the first of which charted the history of Animage and its role in developing anime culture in Japan, and the second focused on Studio Ghibli, particularly on one of their most historic titles “Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind”. In addition to the first cel of “Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind,” original drawings, layouts, artboards, poster,s and a reproduction of the costume Nausicaa wore when she went to the See of Corruption are also on display.

Tickets are being sold on Lochike in timed slots. Once the exhibition in Tokyo is finished, it will travel to Miyagi Prefecture’s MakiArt Terrace.
