The film adaptation of Nahoko Uehashi’s “Shika no Ou” — originally scheduled to be released on 18th September 2020, will finally be released almost a year after initially planned. The film will now be hitting Japanese cinemas on 10th September 2021. A new trailer and poster have been unveiled to accompany the announcement.

“Shika no Ou” will be the first work directed by Masashi Ando, who is the animation director of Studio Ghibli’s “Princess Mononoke” and “Spirited Away”, as well as Makoto Shinkai’s “Your Name.” The film is co-directed by Masayuki Miyaji, written by Taku Kishimoto, and produced by Production IG of “Ghost in the Shell” fame.
