Kiminori Wakasugi’s quirky post-apocalyptic comedy manga “KAPPEI” will be getting a live-action feature-length adaptation, out 18th March 2022. “KAPPEI” was serialised in Young Animal from 2011 to 2014, with up to 6 collected volumes published, and a total circulation of 350,000 copies.

“KAPPEI” will star Hideaki Ito, Kamishiraishi Moka, Daigo Nishihata (Naniwa Danshi), Yusuke Onuki, Arata Furuta, Koji Yamamoto, Yukiyoshi Ozawa, and many others. Fittingly enough, Kappei Yamaguchi is in charge of the narration of the teaser video — check it out below!

“KAPPEI” believes that the world will collapse at the end of the century, and in order to become the saviour of humankind, he has spent all his life in training. However, when the promised apocalypse does not come to pass as he expected, he is forced to return to “the real world” — where he awkwardly tries to reintegrate into society and falls in love with a female college student.
