The Simpsons and Akira may be one of the last things fans would associate with one another, however, a new animation project aims to remake the Japanese anime and manga classic together. The parody replaces Akira characters with characters from the hit comedy and satire series, the Simpsons, and it is called Bartkira

The Bartkira Project aims to recreate the classic manga, as well as the anime in a whole new light, and is basically The Simpsons with Akira’s story. Inspired by the art of Ryan Humphrey and spearheaded by cartoonist, James Harvey, Bartkira will be set in the futuristic “Neo Springfield”. Here is the full cast for the project and it really is fitting

And then there’s the anime trailer which is a remake if Akira’s theatrical trailer, which was a result of a special crowdfunding projuct

Based on an idea by Ryan Humphrey articulated through comics, the concept was expanded with the Bartkira project, a comic collaboration of Simpsons fans, curated by James Harvey. In association with the comic, Moon Animate Make-Up producer Kaitlin Sullivan pitched the idea of an animated trailer to match and with the work of over fifty artists, produced the Bartkira animated trailer.
