Initial D’s first movie, Legend 1, featured some very realistic sound effects when it came to the cars. A new video released by Kodansha demonstrates how the movie’s sound effects team went the extra length just to provide them, as they visited an actual race track and got the help of an actual race car just to make the anime movie sound a whole lot more realistic.

The sound effects team visited the the Tsukuba Circuit in Shimotsuma, Ibaraki prefecture and recorded the sounds which are usually heard from races, which range from engines revving up to tires screeching and exhaust pipes fuming. And those fast metal beasts really roared out loud, enough to get those realistic sound effects.

The first movie, Shin Gekijou-ban Initial D Legend 1 -Kakusei-, which hit Singapore last December, will be having its sequel, Shin Gekijou-ban Initial D Legend 2 -Tousou-, premiere in Japan this 23 May, and the new video is part of the build-up for that second movie. The build-up also includes the participation of two official Initial D race cars in actual and official races in several parts of Japan.
