Considered one of the most successful Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games (MMORPG) today, Sega announced during an ARC Caravan event in Okinawa, that Phantasy Star Online 2 will be adapted into a TV anime.

The anime is part of the celebrations for the Phantasy Star Online 15th anniversary. It was also announced during the event that the anime will have a completely new story which will be set in the near future on Earth.

The TV anime adaptation is scheduled for 2016. However, no exact release date has been announced so far. More announcements about this new Phantasy Star Online 2 The Animation TV anime, such as staff, cast, animation studio, and exact release date will be announced in the days ahead.

Phantasy Star Online 2 is a highly successful online PC game which was launched in Japan back in 2012. The game also became available for iOS and Android smartphones in 2014 and also had a PS Vita port released in 2013.
