To promote the upcoming “Drawing Manga! – Lines, Panels, Kyara” Exhibition in the Oita Prefectural Art Museum in Oita City, two iconic manga characters have teamed up. This one-time pairing might be something that many people thought they would never see happen.

Surely, the legendary assassin known as Golgo 13 from Takao Saito’s long-running seinen manga series, and the lovable little girl named Yotsuba from Kiyohiko Azuma’s Yotsuba&! manga have nothing in common? But the two are in fact teaming up for the exhibition’s poster as seen in the image above. That is a toy gun Yotsuba is holding, right?

The exhibition will feature commentary from Keiichi Tanaka, a renowned manga expert and ComiPro! developer, who will be talking about various manga concepts such as story-telling techniques and drawing strokes when illustrating manga, which are widely used by several manga legends and professional mangaka today.

Works by some of these manga legends, which include Osamu Tezuka (Astro Boy and Black Jack), Keiko Takemiya (Kaze to Ki no Uta), Daijiro Morohoshi (The Mad Men), Kazuhiko Shimamoto (Blue Blaze), Kouta Hirano (Hellsing), and Peach-Pit (Shugo Chara and Rozen Maiden), will also be going on display.

The “Drawing Manga! – Lines, Panels, Kyara” Exhibition will also be taking a look at tools used for making mangas, as well as their evolution from analog and manual ways of illustrating to the new digital ways of making mangas.

The exhibition will be held from 1 August until 23 August 2015. Admission for high school students and younger will be 600 yen while the general admission will cost 800 yen.
