With 2.2 billion yen in earnings as of 1 August 2015, Love Live! School Idol Movie has surpassed Madoka Magica: The Rebellion Story’s 2.08 billion yen earnings. With the movie is still being shown in Japan, it seems like that number will rise a bit more.

Also as of 1 August, the movie has been viewed over 1.5  million times. It also topped the Japanese box office for its first three weeks, however, it was not able to surpass MadoMagi’s opening weekend sales. The movie opened last 13 June in 121 theaters across Japan, and it surpassed the 2 billion yen mark last 27 July 2015.

In our previous article, it was revealed that the movie will be shown all over the world, including Singapore, Hong Kong, South Korea, the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Brunei, and Thailand, and all these countries have very solid Love Live! fan bases, so be sure that the lines for this movie will be long too, just like in its opening night!
