The official Phantasy Star Online 2 YouTube channel has started streaming the latest PV for the new Phantasy Star Online 2 anime. This new video reveals that the anime, which will follow a completely original story, will begin airing on 7 January 2016.

The video also features Phantasy Star Online 2: The Animation’s theme song titled “Zessei Stargate,” which is performed by seiyuu, Shouta Aoi, best known for his role as Ai Mikaze in Uta no Prince sama. Aoi is definitely no stranger to Sega’s popular MMORPG, as he previously starred in the game’s stage play adaptation alongside fellow seiyuu, Emi Nitta (Love Live!’s Honoka).

Joining him are M.A.O. (Brunhildr in the Darkness’s Kazumi Schlierenzauer and School Live’s Yuuki), who will be voicing Aika Suzuki, and Ayaka Suwa (Absolute Duo’s Tomoe Tachibana and Riddle Story of Devil’s Tokaku Azuma), who will be voicing Rina Izumi. The anime’s story will be a completely original one that is not found in the game nor the stage play, and will be set in the near future, and like the stage play adaptation, it is part of the Phantasy Star Online franchise’s 15th-anniversary celebrations.
