For a few years now, the Japanese Red Cross has been quite active in their blood drives during the bi-annual doujinshi extravaganza known as Comic Market, or Comiket. To help save more lives, they have appealed to Japanese anime fans to donate more life-giving blood and have sought the help of several anime from Girls und Panzer to No-Rin!. This year’s Winter Comiket, or Comiket 89, is no different.
From 29 – 31 December, Comiket 89 will be held at the Tokyo Big Sight in Odaiba, and the Red Cross will be there as well, not only to help the medical efforts just in case somebody gets injured, but to collect blood from donors. In return, these donors will also be getting some sweet freebies, including one promo Wixoss card, and A-1 size posters from Nora, Princess, and Stray Cat, Shoujo-tachi wa Kouya o Mezasu, and Please tell me! GALKO-chan.
Since Comiket is in Tokyo and not everybody can attend, the Red Cross is extending their blood drive across 39 prefectures at the same time. Those who donate blood in several Red Cross centers across Japan during this period will be getting the Wixoss card and posters as well.
Sure, donating blood means that you will have to encounter a needle and feel weak from the blood loss afterwards, but remember, your blood may help save a person’s life. Oh, and you’re getting cool gifts too!
