Last New Year’s Eve, 31 December 2015, the Macross Delta special was broadcasted in Japan, and it not only contained a few announcements regarding the anime, but also contained an early version of the anime’s first episode, Senjou no Prologue”.

During the program, it was announced that Macross Delta will premiere in the spring. The first episode, which was shown during the program, is only an “early version,” which means that we can be expected to see its final version when the series itself premieres in March or April.

The program however, did not reveal the names of the seiyuu for the members of Walküre. It remains a mystery as at a early version screening for the members of the official Macross fanclub, the members were given cards with writings in two alien languages. These cards contain clues on the identities of the seiyuu for Walküre.

Macross has always been known for its great musical soundtrack, and the program revealed that Macross Delta is in good hands with Rinne no Lagrange composer, Saeko Suzuki, Kaleido Star composer, Mina Kubota, and Hoozuki no Reitetsu composer, TOMOSIRO, who will all be composing songs for the anime.

Walküre, which is the franchise’s first all-female idol group, will be the series’ spiritual successor to the franchise’s legendary fictional musical acts, like Lynn Minmay (Macross), Fire Bomber (Macross 7), and Sheryl Nome and Ranka Lee (Macross Frontier).

Macross Delta is set 18 years after the events of Macross Frontier and follows the five-member tactical musical unit “Walküre,” which will comprise of the anime’s five main girls, including Freyja Wion. The anime will also feature the  “Aerial Chivalry Order,” a mysterious Valkyrie unit which begins its operations at the same time as “Walküre.”
