We’ve all been there before, that feeling of wanting to get in the driver’s seat and just floor it. However, one popular seiyuu got his start in driving thanks to one particular and “legendary” racing anime, as Mamoru Miyano confessed that Initial D was the reason for him learning how to drive a car.

During a screening event for the final film of the New Inital D trilogy, Shin Gekijou-ban Initial D Legend 3 -Mugen-, Mamoru Miyano, who voices the manga’s protagonist, Takumi Fujiwara, has admitted that he still did not have any driver’s licence by the time they were dubbing the first movie. He then added that he questioned himself if he was the right fit for the role if he did not have any Driver’s Licence, so by the time to work on Legend 3 arrived, he finally decided to get one for himself.

The seiyuu also talked about the growth of his character, Takumi, and said that he was quite excited for the kissing scene between him and Natsuki, voiced by Maaya Uchida.

The screening event was held at the Shinjuku Piccadilly theater, and was also attended by fellow cast members, Daisuke Ono (Ryousuke Takahashi), Yuuichi Nakamura (Keisuke Takahashi), and Minoru Shiraishi (Itsuki Takeuchi), together with director, Tomohito Naka, and CGI director, Hiroaki Matsuura. The third movie premiered last 6 February in Japan, while the first two movies were previously shown in Singapore.
