Visual Arts/ Key, which is responsible for titles like Clannad, Kanon, Air, Angel Beats!, and Little Busters!, is getting a new anime for one of their visual novel works, which is titled planetarian. The anime adaptation is set for release later this year. David Production, which is currently animating the new Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable anime, has been tagged in handling the animation.

Details about this new anime, such as format (TV anime, movie, OVA, or ONA), have not been revealed so far, but the anime adaptation is now indeed in the works. More announcements are expected to be revealed on 15 April, during a  “production presentation event” in Akihabara, which will be streamed live via Niconico.

Described as a “kinetic novel” game, planetarian  takes place 30 years after a world war put a halt to space development. The protagonist, simply known as “the Junk Hunter,” attempts to restore a planetarium’s projector after meeting a robot. It was originally released for PCs back in 2004, before getting versions for the PS2, PSP, and iOS smartphones, the latter of which having an English version.
